The Dundee Stars ice hockey club was founded in 2001 and is based in Dundee, Scotland. The team played its first season in the British National League (BHL) in the 2001/2002 season, winning the league and playoffs. In 2005 the Stars then joined the Scottish National League (SNL) after the BNL folded. The Dundee Stars would spend 5 seasons in the SNL before joining the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).
In 2010, the Dundee Stars joined the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), the top-level ice hockey league in the UK. Since joining the EIHL, the team has been a competitive force, reaching the playoffs on 6 out of 12 occasions, making the semi-final in 2016/17 and 2021/22. The Dundee Star's best season in the EIHL came in the 2013/14 season finishing 3rd in the League, but unfortunately fell short in the playoffs, exiting at the quarter-final stage.
The Dundee Stars play their home games at the Dundee Ice Arena, which has a capacity of 2,400, and have a passionate fanbase, that follow their team home and away and through highs and lows.
The team has had a number of successful players over the years, including Charlie Combs, who put up 65 points in 52 games in 2021/22, and Dan Bakala, who put up a .928 save percentage in the 2013/14 season. Recently, Stars fans have been wowed by players such as Dryden Dow and Philippe Sanche.
The Dundee Stars have a relatively short history in the EIHL, but has a rich and successful history in UK Ice Hockey, playing in various leagues and having a number of successful seasons and players. The team continues to be a major player in the EIHL and has a dedicated fanbase. The Dundee Stars have a bright future ahead under the supervision of Jeff Mason, who spent 3 successful seasons behind the bench in Belfast, being a part of team that won 2 league titles, two challenge cups and fell short in 2 Play-Off finals.
