The Glasgow Clan ice hockey club, formerly known as Braehead Clan, was founded in 2010 and is based in Glasgow, Scotland. The team began playing in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) during the 2010-11 and played and has featured ever since.
Since joining the EIHL, the team has consistently been a competitive force, finishing second in the 2014/15 season, ending the season just 1 point behind eventual champions the Sheffield Steelers. Although, the Clan were rewarded for their efforts with a place in the 2015/16 Champions Hockey League, facing the Växjö Lakers and ERC Ingolstadt. The Clan have made the playoffs in all but one season since they have been in the EIHL.
The Glasgow Clan play their home games at the 4000 seater Braehead Arena and have a passionate fanbase, known as the "Purple Army". The Clan are known for their strong fanbase that follow their team across the UK.
The team has had a number of successful players over the years, including Zack Fitzgerald, who went on to coach the team in 2019, and Matt Haywood, who iced 11 seasons for the Clan. Recently, the Clan have had players such as Craig Peacock and Steven McParland entertain Clan fans.
In recent years, the Glasgow Clan has been a driving force in the growth of ice hockey in Scotland and has been at the forefront of promoting the sport in the country. The team has also been active in supporting the local community and has a strong commitment to developing young talent through its youth hockey fostering talent such as Liam Stenton and Liam Danskin.
The Clan continue to be a major player in the EIHL and has a dedicated fanbase. The Glasgow Clan have shown resilience and determination to fight back after feeling the full force impact of COVID-19.
